Kenya Arabica Coffee Beans - Light Roast

100% Arabica · Single Origin · Grown in Kenya · Roasted Weekly in Atlanta

Bright, fruity and alive. This is Kenyan coffee at its most vivid: sparkling citrus, blackcurrant and a honey-sweet finish. We roast it lightly so you taste the farm, not the roaster.

If you drink your coffee black, or want to know what people mean when they call Kenyan coffee special, start here.

    Tasting notes

    •      Sparkling citrus and lemon blossom

    •      Blackcurrant and red berry

    •      A clean, wine-like acidity

    •      A sweet honey finish

    Where it comes from

Every bean is grown on Kirenge Farm in Kiambu County, Kenya, which our family has farmed since the 1950s. The coffee grows at 1,500 to 1,800 meters on red volcanic soil, where cool air slows the cherries and builds sweetness. It is Kenya AA grade, from the SL-28 and SL-34 varieties, picked by hand at full ripeness.

    Roasted weekly

We roast in small batches every week in Atlanta and ship within 48 hours.

    Brews best as

    •      Pour-over (V60 or Chemex): the clearest citrus and fruit. Use water at 200 to 205°F (93 to 96°C).

    •      AeroPress: a clean, bright cup.

    •      Drip: easy and reliable. Use a medium grind.

    Available in

Whole bean or ground. Single 12 oz bag, 2-pack or 3-pack.

    Caffeine

This is 100% Arabica coffee, so its caffeine is in the normal range for coffee. Brewed coffee averages about 96 mg per 8 oz cup. Light roast gives slightly more caffeine per scoop than dark roast, because the beans are denser. By weight, all three of our roasts are the same.

    Questions about this coffee

What does light roast coffee taste like?

Bright and fruity, with a lighter body. Ours has citrus, blackcurrant, and honey notes.

    Is light roast more acidic?

Does light roast have more caffeine?

Slightly more per scoop, and the same by weight.

    Whole bean or ground?

Whole bean if you have a grinder. See our grind size chart.

    How should I store it?

Airtight, cool, and dark. See how to store coffee beans.
